Environmental policy and objectives

Organisation
A Main Board Director shall be responsible for Environmental Management within the Land Securities Group and shall advised by the Environmental Director and by the Corporate Environment Group.

At an operational level, all Directors and Heads of Department are responsible for compliance with the Company’s Environmental principles and the achievement of the Group’s objectives and targets. The Environmental Director is to co-ordinate the support activities that help the Group to achieve the objectives and is to gather and record the information that allows the Group to report its environmental activities.

Specific Objectives
Compliance with Environmental Legislation and Best Practice
The Group is committed to complying with all relevant environmental legislation in every aspect of our business and will strive to meet best practice in non-regulated areas.

Environmental Management System
Where appropriate, the Group will implement formal environmental management systems within our business units.

Enhancement and Minimisation of Harm to the Environment
The Group will minimise the potential for our business activities to cause harm to the environment and, where possible, take advantage of opportunities to enhance the natural and built environment.

Minimisation of Pollution and Contamination
The Group will manage its activities to minimise the risk of pollution and contamination.

Biodiversity
The Group will promote the concept and aims of biodiversity by integrating biodiversity considerations into our activities, identifying good working practices, and engaging with local communities, NGOs and our suppliers in seeking to identify and take advantage of opportunities to enhance biodiversity arising from our development activities.

Environmental Objectives
The Group will identify appropriate environmental objectives and associated targets that will help the Group realise these objectives.

Monitoring Compliance
The Group will monitor its performance on a regular basis to establish whether it is achieving its objectives and targets.

Effective Communication
The Group is committed to communicating effectively both internally and externally on all environmental issues, in order to contribute towards a culture of environmental awareness within the company.

Continuous Improvement
The Group is committed to a continuous improvement in the performance and management of its Environmental Management Systems (EMS), working in partnership with its clients, professional agents, service partners, contractors and other suppliers.
