Derby retail park extension plans submitted
11 August 2010Land Securities has submitted plans for a redevelopment of the Meteor Retail Park in Derby. If the plans are approved by Derby City Council, a 9,290 sq m food super store, five new retail units, a car filling station and car wash will be created by way of a reconfiguration of the existing retail park. It is estimated that upon completion the development will provide an additional 390 full and part-time jobs and bring further investment to the area.
Jack Busby, Retail Portfolio Manager for Land Securities said: “This retail development plan is exciting news for Derby as it will increase the food offer within the city and also help encourage further retail diversification on the park. The plans incorporate a food super store which will offer major employment opportunities for local people.”
Retailers currently trading on the 17,300 sq m Meteor Retail Park include Focus, Mostyns, Magnet, D&M Furniture, Carpetright, DFS, Dreams, Topps Tiles, Staples, ELS, In N Out, Lidl, Pets at Home, Moben/Sharps/Dolphin, McDonalds.
A decision is expected by Derby City Council towards the end of the year.
