London Development Team Volunteering Day

On 20th July 36 members of the London Development Team at Land Securities took part in a team building volunteering day with Centrepoint|, a London-based youth homelessness charity, at their hostel at 110-112 Landor Road, North Clapham. The hostel houses homeless young people offering them a home for up to two years.

The Development team renovated the public and communal areas of the hostel, which has 6 multi occupancy apartments. Everything received a new coat of paint and as part of the project new carpeting was provided for much of the building, along with replacement lampshades through out. The garden was cleared and weeded and the surrounding fence and garden tables were given new coats of preservative. Gaybank, one of our trade contractors provided some specialist expertise, including the installation of a new garden gate a the front of the building.  

Jack Lawrence, the Community Investment & Liaison Officer for Land Securities, was delighted with the team's efforts. He commented, "it's great to have been able to support Centrepoint |through a volunteering challenge. Getting everyone out of the office and working together at the hostel was a wonderful team building experience, which bought everyone together. We all enjoyed the day and got a great deal from it. Centrepoint| are one of very few organisations that have been able to offer us volunteering projects that can accommodate some of our larger teams of up to 50 people and we're looking forward to seeing what else we can achieve with them".
